On January 10, 2020, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and a National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. The centre was approved in October 2018 at a cost of 416 crores.
The I4C has 7 major components. It includes National cyber Crime Threat Analysis Unit, Platform for Joint Cybercrime Investigation team, National Cyber Crime reporting portal, cybercrime ecosystem management unit, national cyber-crime training centre, National Cyber Research and Innovation Centre and Cybercrime Ecosystem management unit. So far, 15 state governments and Union Territories have agreed to set up Regional Cyber Crime Coordination Centres. The National Cyber Crime reporting portal will enable the citizens to report cyber crimes online. It has a specific focus on crimes against child pornography, women, child sex abuse.
